I've been sitting on my insurance check from that stupid hailstorm in the spring, waiting for demand to die down before I go get my car fixed. So, where did y'all go for repairs? How good of a job did they do, were their prices reasonable, how long did it take, etc? Since I have so much damage I really want to make sure they're going to do a damned fine job. Thanks! |

Pickle Sno Cone...

I saw that the sno cone place by my house (the Michoacana Market on Cameron Road) has pickle flavor sno cones.
While I find this as appealing as garlic flavored milkshakes, geektron told me that someone on this community was looking for this abomination.
Well, now you know where to find it.Current Music: Amon Amarth - Twilight of the Thunder God

I have a friend moving to Round Rock and the job she was going to have fell through at the last minute.
She has an administrative background and can offer stellar recommendations from her last employment.
Anyone know of any openings they would like to share?

So my dryer has bit the dust and I'm leaving town tomorrow for a week. Not a pleasant situation. I've tried airdrying things on racks, but it's clear that something much more time efficient has to happen so I don't have to pack dirty clothes.
Any laundromat suggestions? Preferably on the North side of things, since we're in almost in Round Rock. Looking for one with free wifi and preferably few hobos.
On a related note, any appliance repair people you could recommend? (my dryer bit the dust is code for my husband thought he could replace the cord on the back himself, but he ended up taking it apart and something made a large thud on the inside and if you plug it in sparks and smoke ensue. . . )

Funny Games / L.I.E.

I've heard many a thing about Funny Games. Good things, for those of you that have seen it, does it live up to the hype?
Also, have any of you seen L.I.E.? I thought it was pretty intriguing and VERY well-acted. It's about a child (I think 12?) whose mother passed away that has almost completely no guidance, hanging with the wrong kids, one of which he meets a pedophile through. I don't want to spoil anything but i thought it dealt really well with the the subject matter at hand. I don't think i consider it that "disturbing" as some reviews i've read said it was, but it was definantly haunting. |

south austin apartments, rehoming dogs ...and stuff

What apartments in south austin would you recommend?
My roommate and I are looking to move from our house into an apartment for financial reasons. Also, because I am rehoming my dogs.
We'd like a 2/2 or a 2/1 in south austin. SUPER south is better because I attend pinnacle ACC campus, work in bee caves and she works off of brodie and slaughter.
Preferably at 600ish. Cheaper is better. Small is ok. Semi ghetto is ok as long as the grounds are niceish and our cars won't get jacked and the apartment is nice inside. We're pretty open minded, but the price has to be under 650 MAX. If it includes some utilities then we might be able to go up.
And I've made the decision to rehome my dogs. I've gone back and fourth about it...but after last night, the guilt is eating me up. I'm not home hardly due to my job and school. I've also been offered more hours at work so now I won't be home from 8 am til 9pm. And financially, now they're taking a back seat. Its not fair to them. Down grading the yard also sucks and I feel terrible for that.
If you know anyone interested in a 3 year old great dane and a 1 year old great dane, please send them my way.
Thank you for everyone who helped me out with the driving issue. My roommate has pulled through and really helped out a lot. I get my DL on friday. Wish me luck. |

parking downtown

So, I have an interview tomorrow at 3pm downtown, and I would need to park there. Most of the time I avoid parking downtown because it's a hassle but this time I have to, so...
The place will be around 10th/Brazos - how's the parking around 2-3ish? I'm assuming all the street parking is still paid meters by then? Are there any free nearby parking? Or any other tips? |

I've been seeing way to many squirrels and finding way too many feathers. I think the feathers have to do with my dad but I was clueless about the squirrels. The connection with the earth and winter and savings! is clear but way too literal for me!
I searched Google
and this book came first place with this quote
"the great master of the squirrels was glad, because his tribe had come to life again. Then the prince sang "Ia heiahaa. heia'aya negwa iaha" I become accustomed to this side. I become accustomed to the other side.
We as humans must become accustomed to this world and to the spiritual world if we are to live in harmony and balance.
Artists can play an important role by being able to see the unseen dictates of the spirit world and warn of impending disruption in harmony. The artist can create a witness to today and a window to the past for tomorrow."

I Need Some Moving Boxes!!
|

|
Well I do not need them for myself but for an elderly lady who is moving from one part of an apartment complex to another. The area she is in at the moment is far too noisy.
Ok , I should say that her second story apartment ( she is 80 years old) faces a very large building that seems to have the airplane engine of air conditioners. So I am helping her pack a bit and she is very much in need of moving boxes.
If anyone would like to get rid of some and are around the North Lamar area up by the HEB on Runberg or just somewhere around there or something. I will be glad to pick up about 10 or so of them or however many I can auctually fit in my car.

"Goodbye Horses" is not that great a song. I was thinking if I listened to it enough times, it would reveal its beauty to me like the tucked-in candy of a cannibal serial killer.
But no.

Could I get some recommendations on preferred lock/key guys?
I was thinking of using "AllStar Lock & Key" because he was already parked next door, working at my neighbor's house. Unfortunately, the douchebag who fielded my polite request to avoid the hateful content of talkshows (playing loudly from his van) while in neighborhoods happened to be the guy in the van listening to it, and likely the sole employee. He was rude and suggested that "the truth is hateful" and that I would be happier if it were liberal drivel instead.
Great customer service, man. Can't wait to hire Mr. Entitlement to come change my locks.

Criterion Titles For Sale

|
Hello, getting rid of a few Criterion titles I purchased in bulk. All are brand new/factory sealed, purchased directly from Criterion (no bootlegs/imports or any of the sort). My gf's posted for me two Buy Now auctions up on Ebay (Free US Shipping w/ tracking provided). Although, if you live in the Los Angeles area and can pick up, I'm willing to drop down the price. Each DVD basically rounds out to $25 a pop (which is less than what DVD Planet has them for).
One goes for $150 and is a Powell/Pressburger lot featuring:
The Tales of Hoffman The 49th Parallel Canterbury Tale The Thief of Bagdad I Know Where I'm Going! The Red Shoes
And the other lot goes for $200 and features:
Band of Outsiders Pierrot Le Fou Classe Tous Risques Ali: Fear Eats The Soul Mafioso Le Samourai Milky Way La Jette/Sans Soleil
If anyone's interested, please contact me at panicinzero@gmail.com. Thanks. |

where should I go for lunch tomorrow?

So, where should I go for lunch tomorrow?
Criteria: Cheap! (under 7/person) No Mex/Tex Mex/or "American" food (aka burgers/bbq/etc) Ethnic is better If they have lunch specials, the better. Must have easy free parking
Location doesn't matter TOO much but prefer not too much more north than 183.
Here's some of my choices: Swad Shalimar Pho Van (already been to Tam's Deli and Thanh Nhi) Sasha's Russian (not cheap but heard it was good) Sarah's Mediterranean Market Aster's Ethiopian 888 Nubian Queen Nolas Koriente

Once upon a time, Fire Bowl Cafe had a mango smoothie. If I recall correctly it was just some kind of boxed concentrate mixed with water and frozen in a mixing machine, but it was so darn tasty and refreshing...
Anyone remember this, know what I'm talking about, and maybe know of some other place that has them? |
